Welcome to the New York State

Economics Challenge!

The New York State Economics Challenge will run from January 1 to March 21st, 2025.*

  • The top four (4) highest-scoring teams from the David Ricardo and Adam Smith Divisions will compete at the in-person New York State Economics Finals in New York City!

    • The in-person New York State Finals is to be determined. Please check here weekly for updates. 

    • Teams will compete for cash prizes:

      • 1st place: $2,000 for the team

      • 2nd place: $1,000 for the team

      • 3rd place: $500 for the team

  • The first-place team from each Division will advance to the National Online Semi-Finals - April 21st-24th, 2025.

Teachers: you can begin registering teams on January 1st, 2025. The last day to take the online exam is March 21st, 2025.*

The National Competition Dates and Prizes

For teams that advance to the National Competition, below are the competition dates: 

  • The #1 top-scoring teams from each State will advance to the National Online Semi-Finals: April 21st- 24th, 2025.

  • National Finals: May 28th-30th, 2025

    • Teams compete in New York City for the National Championship in their Division.

    • Cash prizes for each team member, plus one teacher-coach:

      • 1st place: $1,000

      • 2nd place: $500

      • 3rd place: $250

      • 4th place: $200
